Trinity Rodman is known as one of the most electrifying figures in women's soccer, and her intensity doesn't seem to fade when she's not playing.
In June 2026, Rodman was asked to describe her experience as a spectator at a game instead of a player during an interview with The GIST of It podcast. Her answer was as raw as her style of play.
"I'm like pretty like nervous and all over the place. Like, I can't just sit down and watch a game. Like, I'm gonna be up, I'm gonna be yelling, I'm gonna be like closing my eyes. I'll always have people over, but maybe I'll hide in the bathroom and rage if something bad happens," Rodman said on The GIST of It.
That reaction is understandable when you consider how invested she is in the game at all levels. Rodman is one of the most influential forwards in the NWSL with a 0.7 goal-involvement rate per 90 minutes for the Washington Spirit this season. She has scored three goals and added four assists in eleven starts.
She brings the same level of competitive intensity to every aspect of her game. She just returned from a June 6, 2026, friendly match against Brazil, where she produced a pivotal turnover that resulted in the USWNT's lone goal.
Days later, she travelled to Stuttgart to cheer on boyfriend Ben Shelton at the BOSS Open.
In January 2026, Rodman extended her multi-million dollar a year contract and, on the back of this, became the highest paid female soccer player in the world.
Rodman played a pivotal role in the USA team's victories during the 2024 Paris Olympics, scoring the winning goal against Japan in the quarterfinals during extra time.
At 23 years old, Rodman has already accomplished so much, which goes beyond her natural abilities and begins with her life choices.
Trinity Rodman Has Found Her Home Far From Where She Started
Rodman has lived in the nation's capital for almost twenty-five years, and she now feels more at home there than on the coast of California, where she was born and raised.
While growing up in the Los Angeles area, she attended high school in Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano separately. At the age of eighteen, she made the move to the District.
"Is it bad to say that D.C. feels like my hometown and not California?" Rodman has asked her mother more than once.
"She's like, 'Don't say that!'" Rodman laughed. "But this is my home, and every single time I drive to the games, I'm super excited. It feels like I'm going to hang out at my best friend's house."
Rodman played an important role in the Spirit’s first league championship win in 2021, while also taking home the NWSL Rookie of the Year award. After extended contract negotiations, Rodman signed a 3-year deal that would keep her in Washington, D.C.
