Indiana Fever ran the victory lap against the Dallas Wings on August 14, 2026, with an impressive 98-87 scoreline. However, star player Caitlin Clark believes there's "a lot to build on".
Clark herself scored 17 out of 29 total points in the third quarter, helping push the team to victory. Later, she spoke to the press about the matchup.
"I mean, I would kind of grade this as a B game for us. I didn't feel like we still played all that amazing." She said. "And, you know, we still found a way to win the game, by 11 versus a really good team."

The Dallas Wings actually took the lead before half-time leading 37-35. Awak Kuier's solid defense became a problem for the Indiana Fever as she recorded three blocks along with eight assists and six rebounds by the time the game ended.
"I think it's good for our group to remember, like we got to dictate the pace early of the game and not play to how they want
to play," Clark said during a press conference per Indiana Fever's YouTube, addressing the team's slow start.
Aliyah Boston also contributed fabulously to the team effort, scoring 16 points, ten of which came in the fourth quarter. This was a huge boost for the team in the late game.
Boston's effort essentially sealed the deal for the Indiana Fever, pushing the team past the finish line.
Overall, the team performed quite well on the court, making a commendable comeback after halftime. However, things could have turned out quite differently.
This is mainly because of Clark's injury scare during the first half.
Caitlin Clark's injury scare: The unfortunate ankle twist
During the first half, Caitlin Clark ended up twisting her left ankle on the court. The incident happened quite quickly, and it clearly had an effect on the player.
Clark would soon go to the sidelines and then straight into the locker room while trying to apply minimal pressure to her twisted ankle. She was later asked about her foot's condition during the post-match press interview.
"Yeah, I mean I haven't seen the video," Clark said during the same press conference. "I think I just landed on her foot. But I feel good, and obviously I was moving perfectly fine. So, I'll ice it and be good to go."
After the sudden scare, she returned to the court in no time and managed to have a fantastic second half and an even better third during which she scored 17 points.
