Kelsey Plum is putting Atlanta Dream's Jordin Canada in the spotlight after what she thinks have been some impressive performances from her side, with next to no credit.
The Dream guard has also upped her statistics, already having 30 steals for the season, just in second behind Rhyne Howard's 38.
Canada once again had a complete performance against the Indiana Fever, as Plum called her the best defensive guard in the league while speaking on the Sports on Prime postgame show.
“Jordin [Canada] is one of the best defensive guards in this league. I don’t think she gets enough credit for what she does,” Plum said following the game between the Fever and the Dream.
“And even when it doesn’t show in the stat sheet how disruptive she is, she takes away a lot of space. I think obviously Kelsey Mitchell is an incredible player and had an incredible game. Jordin makes those shots tough for her." Plum added.
While the headlines of the game will obviously go to the likes of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, Canada's contribution played an important role in securing Atlanta the dub.
Canada ended the game with 18 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 4 steals to help the Dream defeat the Fever 108-101. And this is exactly why Plum believes the Dream guard should receive some deserved recognition.
With the win against the Fever, the Dream extends its record to 10-4 for the season. While Canada definitely played a part in the Dream's successes this season, Reese has given credit to the whole roster.
Angel Reese Focuses on the Collective Effort
Angel Reese scored a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds against the Fever. But she credited the whole team, including the bench players who made an impact that sealed the victory.
“We all collectively did a great job, especially coming from the bench,” Reese said, speaking at the postgame press conference. “It was just a collective win. Everybody just came in and did their job, and we were able to close this one out tonight.”
Apart from Reese's 21 points and Canada's 18 points, Allisha Gray and Naz Hillman added 17 points each, while Rhyne Howard ended the night with 16 points.
With the Dream and the Fever tied with one win apiece this season, Karl Smesko would require such a collective effort again as we travel to the State Farm Arena on Saturday for round 3 of Angel Reese vs Caitlin Clark.
So, do you think Reese and co. can overcome the Fever in back-to-back games with the same collective effort? Let us know in the comments.
