Healthcare Company Trolls WNBA Refs After Controversial Caitlin Clark Technical

The Indiana Fever won their game against the Connecticut Sun 85-75 on Saturday. During the final quarter of the game, Indiana star Caitlin Clark received a technical foul, after which a certain healthcare company threw shots at the referee.

Clark got a technical when she deflected the ball out of bounds and tried to kick it back into her hands. Instead, the ball hit the scorer's board, and Clark went to take it. The referee, Tyler Mirkovich, first gave a foul to Clark, which drew backlash online, but then changed the decision to a delay-of-game violation to the team.

Healthcare company LASIK.com saw an opportunity to poke fun and write a sarcastic tweet to the WNBA referees, which read:

"Still offering free LASIK to @WNBA refs."

For context, LASIK is a leading vision correction provider and provides eye surgeries. The X post came as a slight jibe towards the referees, indicating that they should have their vision corrected to avoid such foul calls.

Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham also reacted to the tweet, replying, "Hahaha yes."

But this isn't the first time that LASIK has taken shots at the officiating. On July 15, 2025, they replied to renowned sports commentator Rachel A. DeMita after she asked them how quickly they could treat the referees.

"Treatment days are typically on Fridays," LASIK responded. "So we’re ready when they are! – Still 100% free to all WNBA refs! – YES, this is 100% real. Better Vision. Better Calls."

While LASIK's sarcasm has found fans, there is a serious consequence looming for Caitlin Clark if more technical fouls rack up.

Caitlin Clark And The Technical Foul Situation

Besides the delay-of-game technical for the team, Caitlin Clark received her fourth technical foul of the season during the third quarter of the game against the Sun. Her previous ones came against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Golden State Valkyries, and the Chicago Sky.

According to the league's disciplinary structure, a player is charged $500 for each of the first three technical fouls, with the fine rising to $1,000 for the fourth through seventh technical fouls. Going by this, her fine has risen to a total of $2,500.

Not only that, but she will also receive a warning letter from the WNBA after her fifth technical foul of the season. Also, a player gets a one-game ban after receiving eight technical fouls, and the two-time All-Star is halfway there after only 13 games.

But besides the technicals, Clark has been performing brilliantly, averaging 20.3 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. She and the Fever will play their next game on Tuesday, June 16, against the Toronto Tempo.
