"Have To Be Coachable": WNBA Legends Discuss on Caitlin Clark, Stephanie White Exchange

Two WNBA legends gave their opinions on Caitlin Clark after her viral, heated exchange with Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White during the team's 100-84 loss against the Portland Fire last weekend.

Veteran Tamera "Ty" Young and three-time WNBA champion Swin Cash had words for Clark and the Fever's players when asked about the viral argument on a segment of "WNBA on Prime".

"We see the body language. With Caitlin being the head of the snake, you have to be coachable." Young said. "And your body language shows. You can say 'I love my coach, and everything's great,' but the body language wasn't showing that. And as former players, we know that is a big thing."

Swin Cash built on Young's point and expanded the discussion to the whole Indiana Fever team.

"Not only the body language, it's the response, right?" Cash said. "We've been in those fire cooky situations where your coach is getting on you."

The two-time Olympic gold medalist highlighted how a player needs to be composed to offset the tension created when the coach is in the midst of a fiery conversation.

"Once you see the look in their (coach's) eyes when they're fired up, then you have to make a decision as a player: 'Am I respecting what they're saying?' Their team as a whole, it's just the body language across. Any games they've been down, that's the one thing that I've seen is that they lack the composure, when you're in that fire, to take that next step to get out of it."

Although the exchange went viral across social media platforms, Stephanie White and Caitlin Clark have settled the fire a bit.

Stephanie White And Caitlin Clark Don't Hold Any Grudges

Both Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White have publicly shown respect to each other after that viral clip. Clark responded to it on Monday, saying that everyone was "blatantly wrong" about the whole scenario.

"I ride for Steph, I ride for these girls. Steph has my back more than anybody," she continued. "Nobody in our locker room or Steph or our coaching staff thought twice about it. It’s just another example of what all of you want to blow up."

White also made things clear, saying about how her relationship with Clark is all well.

"I think what happened in that moment is I was challenging a player. It's coaching. It's what it is. And my relationship with Caitlin is great. I love Caitlin. I ride with her."

The Indiana Fever HC highlighted that Clark wants to be coached and that both of them are "competitive" and "stubborn."

With Thursday's 83-71 win against the Atlanta Dream, the Fever looks to come back to their winning form. They will play their next game against the New York Liberty and hope to improve their 5-4 record further on Saturday, June 6.
