A WNBA analyst has pulled out a track record of Clark being fouled by players throughout her 3-year career in the league! This comes after the Phoenix Mercury's Alyssa Thomas received a one-game ban and a Flagrant Foul 2 penalty. On what other occasions did Clark suffer from Physical plays?
Referring to Thomas pushing her fist through Clark's throat and stepping over her during the game, which saw the Mercury win 111-109, analyst Rachel DeMita has cited even more such fouls while discussing Thomas-Clark on her podcast, Courtside Club.
"Caitlin Clark has been getting beat up for 3 years now," wrote DeMita as she drew an example of the the shoulder-check by Chennedy Carter on Clark in the third quarter before the ball being inbounds, in a Fever's win by 71-70 over the Chicago Sky.
It was later upgraded by the WNBA to a Flagrant Foul 1 without any fine, as Carter was also seen yelling at Clark before knocking her down on the court.
DeMita further discussed the June 17, 2025, game of Indiana with the Connecticut Sun, where the Sun's Jacy Sheldon first poked Clark in the eye, after which they pushed each other, prompting Marina Mabrey to push Clark to the floor. Mabrey received a Flagrant Foul 2 for it as Indiana won 86-77.
"It's the same story over and over," she continued. "As much as we're getting these baby steps, and things are slowly getting better, it's still not good enough, because something like this has now happened."
DeMita was clear that Clark had been facing these physical altercations since her rookie year. She further addressed head coach Stephanie White's statement about Caitlin Clark's injury update.
Stephanie White On Caitlin Clark's Recurring Back Injury
The two-time All-Star was suffering from an ongoing back injury since the start of the season, and recently exited the Mercury game in the third quarter with 5:15 left. White said Clark may not be part of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
"No indication," White said, answering Clark's return time. "But it’s a good time, because we have off all week next week, so we’ll take this opportunity just to get her treatment, get her healthy, and see what happens. Long-term health and wellness is the most important."
Back in the season opener against the Dallas Wings on May 9, Clark exited the game with the Fever losing 107-104. She also missed the game against the Portland Fire on May 20 due to back issues. The Fever won that game 90-73.
It is unclear for how long the Indiana star will be out; White insists on getting her treated next week. The Fever will play the Sparks on June 27 at their home arena, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
