Stephanie White has coached a lot of talented guards over the years. But even she seems to be running out of ways to describe what she's watching from Caitlin Clark right now.
"You watch her, and I think it’s easy to take for granted some of the things that she does," White said after the Fever’s 111-91 win over the Sun, per a video shared by James Boyd of The Athletic.
In just 34 minutes on the floor, Clark recorded 34 points and 12 assists against the Sun. She shot 12-of-19 from the field, hit 6 of her 12 three-point attempts, and added five rebounds and three steals.
On August 23, she scored 37 points and handed out 10 assists in a 113-90 win against the Chicago Sky. Clark has turned these staggering stat lines into a regular occurrence throughout the entire season.

Despite that, ESPN's latest player rankings, published before the Sun's game, placed Clark at No. 2 in the league, behind Las Vegas Aces A’ja Wilson.
Speaking on that, White believes that Caitlin Clark naturally slows down the game, dictates the pace, and moves the ball seamlessly side-to-side, which often leads people to take her exceptional skill for granted.
"I think oftentimes it is with great players. It’s easy to take advantage and think that it’s simple. And I think that’s why players are great, right? They make the complex things look really simple," she explained, per the same video shared by James Boyd on X.
The 4x MVP Wilson certainly boasts her case as the league’s leading MVP frontrunner once again this season. Yet White knows what Clark brings to the floor every night is really special.
"She’s moving the ball, getting it side to side, it’s really, really fun to watch. And sometimes you can get caught up on the sideline, you just watch it. So it’s really special, really special what she’s doing," White added.
White compares Clark and Kelsey Mitchell to a legendary Phoenix backcourt duo
Clark was not the only Fever guard commanding high praise from her head coach after Friday's win.
Asked what it's like to watch the chemistry between Clark and backcourt partner Kelsey Mitchell, White didn't hesitate.
“The only other two that I can think of off the top of my head are DT and Cappy. I mean, when you think back to those Phoenix days," White said during her postgame presser, per Indiana Fever on YouTube.
White was referring to Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter, the Phoenix Mercury duo that won WNBA titles together in 2007 and 2009.
She described that old Mercury backcourt as one that "could both get their own shot" while still setting each other up.
Clark and Mitchell have brought back that history of complementing each other. Against Connecticut on Friday, Mitchell matched Clark point for point with 34 of her own.
Between them, Clark and Mitchell scored or assisted on 92 of Indiana's 111 points. It is the third-highest total for any duo in a single game in WNBA history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
They also set the actual record, 98, against the Chicago Sky less than a week earlier.
