“Extremely Frustrating”: Skylar Diggins Sends Honest Message on Sky’s Struggles

With their latest loss to the expansion team, the Toronto Tempo 85-68, the Chicago Sky have lost four of the last five games they have played. Veteran Skylar Diggins has addressed the team's ongoing struggles.

Diggins seemed frustrated with the team's performance and wanted to find a solution to the team's lackluster record so far, at 4-7.

"It's disappointing...the games aren’t going to slow down," Diggins said, via Chicago State of Mind Sports. "The teams are going to keep getting better and better around us. So we’ve got to figure out how we’re going to turn this corner. This has been an extremely frustrating experience."

The Sky have been struggling to score, averaging around 81 points per game and standing 13th in the league. The seven-time All-Star was adamant about the improvement, pointing the finger at herself as well.

"Effort all around needs to go up, and we have to get out of that loser mentality that we have," Diggins said. "'Oh, here it goes again, here it comes again.' We’re pros. We have to all step up when you’re pros, starting with myself."

With an offensive rating of 101, the Sky surely needs to work on its offense. But not only that, but their defense has also not been up to par, with the team allowing 86 points per game, according to Basketball-Reference.

Amid the ongoing struggles, the team collectively needs to look ahead to improve for their next game.

Skylar Diggins and The Sky Need To Figure Things Out

The Sky's coach, Tyler Marsh, also seems to agree with Diggins' statement. He has said that the team needs to figure out their plan ahead of time.

"Obviously, after a game like this and after how the last couple of weeks have gone, frustrations are at a high," Marsh said. "We’ve got to get together. We’ve got to figure it out."

While the coach and the Sky's star player look adamant to "figure it out," they are up against a tough opponent next, the Atlanta Dream.

The Dream currently stands first in the WNBA Eastern Conference and has a 7-3 record so far. Diggins, although, has been performing decently, averaging 15.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game; her last game against the Tempo did not go as planned.

She only scored seven points and gave three assists to the team. She and the rest of the team will look to return to winning ways against the Dream on Tuesday, June 9.
