"Everything Crashing and Burning": WNBA Analyst Criticizes Hysteria Around Indiana Fever

A WNBA analyst has pointed out the frenzy surrounding the Indiana Fever after they lost two games in a row, as well as the heated sideline exchange between Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White during the Portland Fire's 100-84 loss.

The Fever lost to the Golden State Valkyries and the Fire on May 28 and May 30, respectively. Analyst and prominent sports host Rachel A DeMita talked about the ongoing media storm around the Fever on her show, Courtside Club, per an X clip from June 5, 2026.

"They're getting to the quarter-way mark in this season," she said. "But I just think the hysteria has gotten to be a little bit too much when it comes to the Fever, like everything's crashing and burning."

The Fever holds a 5-4 record for now, with 35 more games to play in the season. DeMita indicates that it is far too early to reach a consensus on the Fever. With a quarter of the season nearing its end, the Fever haven't been in the form everyone expected,

But the recent backlash surrounding them seems unnecessary, per the analyst.

"They lost two games that they probably shouldn't have, but here's also the thing, you guys. The Fever are not going to win every game of the year," she added.

DeMita cited the example of how last year, the Las Vegas Aces played poorly at the start, with a 7-8 record in their first 15 games of the season. They went on to win the WNBA title that same year.

The Fever have also taken a positive step in their latest game, winning 83-71 against the Atlanta Dream.

The Indiana Fever Look To Return To Fine Form

After beating a strong side, such as the Dream, who held a 6-2 record before facing the Fever, Indiana looks to make a comeback.

Two-time All-Star Caitlin Clark also responded to the critiques after the Fever's win against the Dream on June 4.

"I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible, but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet."

This statement by their star player shows the amount of scrutiny they have faced over the past two weeks.

Additionally, the Fever have been dominant on the attacking front, averaging 90.8 points per game and ranking fifth in assists per game at 21.4.

The Fever are playing the New York Liberty next, who have won three consecutive games and rank third in assists per game statistics, averaging 21.9.

The Liberty holds a 6-4 record and will play the Fever on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
