Indiana Fever forward Myisha Hines-Allen (2) poses for a photo Wednesday, April 22, 2026, during media day at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Things got quite tense in the fourth quarter between the Indiana Fever and the Phoenix Mercury, as WNBA analyst Rachel DeMita gave her ultimatum on the controversy that unfolded during Myisha Hines-Allen's ejection.
Firstly, MHA got into it with Alyssa Thomas, leading to a technical foul for both. Soon after, Caitlin Clark received a technical foul of her own after talking some smack to DeWanna Bonner. Sophie Cunningham joined the party soon after with Bonner, as both got into a heated exchange, leading to more technical fouls.
Less than 10 seconds later, Hines-Allen shoved Thomas, earning her a second technical foul and an automatic ejection. DeMita believes that this decision was fair, as she highlighted the sequence on her podcast Courtside Club.
"Myisha Hines-Allen did push Alyssa Thomas. So Alyssa Thomas got the ball. She's going down the lane on offence. And Alyssa Thomas is very strong. We know that she likes to forcefully go through the lane. She doesn't shoot a lot of outside shots." DeMita said.
Thomas did not retaliate and simply walked away, knowing that she would be next in line to get ejected if she had any funny ideas.
Thomas ended up winning the battle against MHA in the box score as well, scoring 19 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds. Meanwhile, MHA only managed 3 points, a rebound, and an assist in 14 minutes off the bench.
But Hines-Allen got the last laugh as the Fever ended up winning the contest 86-77 thanks to Caitlin Clark's game-high 24 points, 9 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Clark has now steadily climbed up the WNBA scoring chart, but needs to stay away from technical fouls, as head coach Stephanie White pointed out after the game.
Stephanie White Reminds Caitlin Clark of a Possible Suspension
Caitlin Clark was certainly not happy with her tech, especially after the officials gave it for clapping. She went on to call the foul "ridiculous" and hoped the league would review the play to get a better explanation.
However, while White defended Clark in this matter, she also reminded her that she needs to be more aware of actions that may lead to technical fouls.
"There are natural things that happen that the energy of the game creates when you do get those (technical fouls), but there are some that we can be a little bit more in control (of)," White told reporters, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.
Clark's latest foul puts her at five for the season. If she receives three more, she will be fined $1500 and suspended for one game.
The Fever are now 10-7 for the season and aiming for a playoff berth sooner rather than later, so White needs to have Clark's talents available at all times.
The Fever face the Mercury once again on Wednesday night, as it will be interesting to see how Caitlin Clark and co. will address these changes in such a short amount of time.
So, do you think Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever can make it back-to-back wins against last year's finalists? Let us know in the comments.
