"Did Everything Wrong": WNBA Analyst Breaks Down Fever Teammate's Costly Mistakes vs Chicago Sky

While the Indiana Fever managed to win a tough game in overtime against the Chicago Sky, WNBA analyst Rosalina Lee believed Stephanie White's team had no business stretching the game out so much.

Lee believes the Fever blew good enough leads one too many times in the fourth quarter, ultimately leading to Skylar Diggins' three-pointer that sent the game to overtime.

Lee blamed veteran Kelsey Mitchell's situational IQ for the Fever messing up at the end. The Sky even gave the Fever additional chances to finish the game in regular time through fouls, but it was not meant to be.

"They made a ton of mistakes. Kelsey Mitchell was off her game tonight, missing, doing everything wrong possible. And I hate to say this about Kelsey because she's always dropping the points." Lee said on her YouTube podcast following the game.

"All Kelsey needed to do was to get the ball, dribble it around, run around, wait to get fouled or whatever. And she dribbles it off her foot, ending up in a turnover where Skylar Diggins sank a three, putting the game into overtime, which it had no business going into overtime after blowing the 19-point lead." Lee added.

Mitchell did have a solid overall performance, scoring 19 points on 7-of-17 field goal efficiency, 3 assists, and a rebound. But impact reaches further than just stats, as Mitchell was put in a bad spotlight because of her mistakes.

While Mitchell slowed down the Fever's progress, the 2023 and 2024 top draft picks put the game to bed, as Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark created WNBA history.

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston Saved the Indiana Fever against the Chicago Sky

Clark and Boston produced a double-double each, as they were the sole reason for the Fever's overtime victory. In addition, the star duo became just the first pair of teammates to have such a stat line in the same game.

Clark almost scored a triple-double with 32 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds on perfect 15-of-15 free throw shooting.

Boston led all scorers in the game with 34 points on a 13-for-26 shooting from the field, while grabbing 12 boards and dishing out three assists. Seven of her rebounds also came off the offensive glass.

The Fever ended up scoring double the Sky's points in overtime (16-8), as White gave the star duo their flowers following the win.

“I don’t know that I can really put it in perspective, in terms of quantifying it. And especially because they’re so young. But they’re elite at what they do.” White said in the postgame press conference, per The Athletic's James Boyd.

As the Fever extend their record to 7-5 for the season, they will look to continue the winning streak against the lowly Connecticut Sun on Saturday to defend their Commissioner's Cup crown.
