According to Philippou’s August 26 X post, Bonner joining the Dream will give them the advantage of having a two-time championship winner in their lineup ahead of the 2026 postseason.

Bonner’s veteran experience can play a huge role in increasing their chances of winning their first-ever championship title.

The Dream had a strong regular season, piloted by star forward Reese, who has already set several WNBA records across her three-year WNBA career. She has also made the roster for the USA Basketball Women's National Team.

Insider Annie Costabile revealed that the Dream has signed the veteran on a prorated max of about $116,000.

Bonner herself has also spoken out about her move from the Mercury, a team she has had a long history with, per The Athletic.

“At this stage of my career, I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m grateful to the Mercury for giving me the opportunity to play in what could be one of my final postseason opportunities,” Bonner said, per The Athletic. “Being part of this franchise has given me so many incredible memories, and Phoenix will always be a special part of my career.”

While Bonner’s comments don’t reveal a retirement date, it does confirm that the WNBA veteran is considering calling it a career once the upcoming postseason ends.
