Coco Gauff fully supports her mother, Candi Gauff, who recently took to Instagram to publicly shut down absurd and excessive US Open ticket requests from distant relatives and long-lost acquaintances.
"New York and Wimbledon are the ones I think people want to come to. We try our best to accommodate everyone, but some of the requests, you would be surprised at how absurd they are," Gauff said, per a video shared by The Tennis Letter on X.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, the 22-year-old revealed how people from her past suddenly pop up only when the biggest tournaments arrive in town.

And the situation reached a breaking point right before the year's final Grand Slam officially kicked off. On Thursday, Candi Gauff shared a picture on Instagram of Coco Gauff holding her Cincinnati Open trophy.
But instead of a simple celebratory note, the caption read:
"Unfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket. Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket. Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring [with] tickets for the match."
The post caught Coco Gauff by surprise at first, but she quickly agreed with her mother's decision.
"To be honest, people come out of the woodwork. You haven't spoken to someone for years, they don't say 'Congrats' or 'Happy birthday' or nothing, and then they're like, 'Oh, I'm in New York. Can I have 8 tickets to your match in your box, please?'" Gauff explained, per the same video shared by The Tennis Letter on X.
These overwhelming demands are not new. Gauff noted that ticket pressure has been a constant distraction ever since she started playing pro tennis at just 15 years old.
Because very few people have Coco's private phone number, most messages land directly on her parents, Candi and Corey, as well as her management team.
Gauff expressed immense gratitude to her parents, who serve as vital "safeguards" by filtering her inbox and managing external pressure so she can stay locked in the competition.
Candi Gauff's blunt message gets huge support from the tennis world
It didn't take long for the tennis community to rally around Candi Gauff's viral message.
Fellow American star Jessica Pegula, who finished runner-up to Gauff in Cincinnati, cheered the post in the comments.
"Say it louder for the people in the back," Pegula wrote.
Former Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins also expressed her support under the post.
Fellow star Madison Keys added: "Iconic."
On the men's side, Frances Tiafoe shared how relatable the situation was during his pre-tournament presser.
"That was the best thing I've ever seen. Unbelievable. I love everything about it," Tiafoe said, per a video shared by
US Open Tennis Championships on YouTube.
The 28-year-old admitted he deals with the exact same headache in New York and even joked about using Candi Gauff's post as a template.
"I might get a screenshot of her post and do that. I agree with her. Sometimes it's a lot," he added.
