Cheryl Reeve Reveals How Courtney Williams Has Adapted to Playing the 2 Guard

The Minnesota Lynx are comfortably on top of the WNBA right now, and head coach Cheryl Reeve pointed out how guard Courtney Williams has made life easier for everyone involved.

Williams has been one of the standout players for the Lynx this season, and according to Reeve, her shooting efficiency has improved after deciding to play more freely than before.

When reporters asked Reeve about the massive improvement in Williams' offensive play, the coach said, “She doesn’t have to think, you know coming out of timeouts I still have to tell her where to be but there’s less impact… we definitely see it with Court in terms of she’s free and just playing.” per reporter Andrew Dukowitz on X.

Williams is currently averaging 17.4 points per game with 52% efficiency. While those are exceptional numbers in themselves, the veteran guard has given credit to rookie Olivia Miles' playmaking, which she is currently thriving upon.

“She just got a natural feel, I have been saying this since I have seen her hoop. She just got something you can’t teach, and obviously, we’re happy that we got her,” Williams praised Miles' incredible rookie run.

Williams, who now acts as a 'free bird' on the court, is as much of one off the hardwood, too. In a recent interview, she revealed how she and Natasha Hiedeman have changed Reeve's way of coaching operations.

“Me and T man, it was a two-man job. I mean I think she saw who we were and so it’s kind of like she can’t change us(laughing) it’s who we are, she can’t change us so I think Cheryl does a great job of just seeing who the people are that they’re bringing in, so it’s like, you’re bringing us in, you know what you’re bringing in,” Williams said.

The Lynx are now 11-3 for the season, a dominant run even with the absence of star player Napheesa Collier. However, to qualify for the Commissioner's Cup final, they would still require some extra help.

The Lynx Need More Than a Win Against the Sparks to Qualify for the Commissioner's Cup Final

The Lynx and the Las Vegas Aces are currently tied 5-1 in the Western Conference standings of the Commissioner's Cup.

Along with overcoming the Los Angeles Sparks, the Lynx now require the help of last year's finalists, the Phoenix Mercury, to take care of the reigning champions this time around for them to secure qualification for the final played on June 30.

The Lynx could have avoided this outcome if they had won their game against the Aces, but for now, total focus needs to be on winning the final game of the round-robin play on Wednesday night, and well, pray for the best.

So, who do you think is reaching the final of the Commissioner's Cup? Let us know in the comments.
