Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) passes around Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) on Saturday, May 17, 2025, during a game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky, 93-58.
Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream played spoilsport to Caitlin Clark's signature shoe debut, but Reese went a step further to mock the Indiana Fever star.
Early in the second quarter, Clark attempted to set a screen or run a route during a play, but bumped right into Reese as Clark waved her arms in the air.
The foul was called on Reese, who seemingly disagreed with it. After looking around in disbelief, the Dream forward mimicked Clark's reaction to the foul call while screwing up her face and sticking her tongue out.
This interaction added yet another layer to the longstanding rivalry between Clark and Reese.
While both players have denied any such discussions in the past, their collegiate and professional history always sparks an intensity whenever the two meet on the court.
In addition, this was not the first time Reese was seen mocking Clark on the court.
During the 2023 NCAA championship between Iowa and LSU, with victory guaranteed for Reese and the Tigers, she resorted to mocking Clark with the famous "You Can't See Me" gesture from legendary wrestler John Cena.
Since then, the two have widely remained the centerpieces of the new WNBA crop of talent, with debates ranging over their impact on the league, stats, and overall playstyle.
Regardless, Reese and the Dream got the upper hand over Clark and the Fever this time around, winning 108-101.
Both teams' stars had solid 20+ point performances, but it was the mocking moment that caught the most attention among fans, who did not take it well.
Fans React to Angel Reese Mocking Caitlin Clark
While Reese was not a fan of the whistle against Clark, fans, in turn, did not appreciate her needless reaction to the foul and bombarded her with some of their not-so-kind thoughts.
"Angel ain’t angel lol… we should change her name to anger" one user commented, to which another replied, "I like it, Anger Reese" with a laughing emoji.
These emotions come after Reese has shown frustration and animated reactions multiple times whenever a foul is called on her.
"Angel has 4 fouls midway through the second quarter." Another comment pointed out the irony of Reese's mocking reaction to Clark, as she had already collected three before the clash with the Fever star.
"That mock is the most athletic move I've seen Reese perform on a basketball court." Another fan decided to joke about Reese's playstyle, continuing the longstanding criticism of her poor basketball fundamentals, such as her incorrect form during shooting.
Safe to say, the Clark-Reese rivalry and the subsequent back and forth between their fans is not stopping anytime soon.
The Fever and the Dream take one game apiece for the season, as we head to the State Farm Arena on Saturday for the third game of the season between the two teams.
