Caitlin Clark’s new playoff record has fans saying the same thing

Caitlin Clark delivered one of the most impressive individual halves in WNBA playoff history on Tuesday night, helping the Indiana Fever stave off elimination with a 99-89 win over the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2.

In the first half alone, Clark put up 14 points and 11 assists. That assist total set a new WNBA record.

“BREAKING: Caitlin Clark sets the WNBA record for most assists in a single playoff half,” as per an X post by @PolymarketHoops.

This record, as posted by @PolymarketHoops, surpassed the previous mark of 10 held by Sue Bird. She also became the first player in league history to record a points-and-assists double-double in a single half of a postseason game.

Clark finished the night with 27 points, 15 assists, and seven rebounds before fouling out with under three minutes remaining. The 15 assists tied for the third-most in a WNBA playoff game all-time and broke the Fever franchise record previously held by Tamika Catchings, who had 11.

She also became the first player in league history, regular season or playoffs, to post at least 25 points and 15 assists in a single game.

The performance came with Indiana facing elimination after a 102-85 loss in Game 1. Clark's playmaking opened the floor for her teammates, particularly Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 26 points, and Aliyah Boston, who added 22.

Between her scoring and assists combined, Clark was directly involved in 58 of Indiana's points on the night.

Fans react to Clark’s new record

The historic half and overall stat line immediately sparked a familiar response across social media. Fans repeatedly landed on the same conclusion: nights like this reinforce why many view Clark as the most impactful player in the league, regardless of individual awards.

“Without a Doubt, Aja Wilson is NOT the MVP this year; that would be Caitlin Clark,” said one fan.

A fan commented about Clark’s skill and how routine this has become.

“Just another night doing her job.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment.

“She's broken so many of their records  and created so many of her own records”

During the 2026 season, Clark broke the single-season record for 20+ point/10+ assist games (9). She also became the first player ever to finish a season in the top two for both scoring and assists.

One fan simply defined Clark’s skill in a single word.

“Exceptional.”

“Clark is a beast on the court,” said another fan, talking about her elite skill set.

Do you think Clark's Game 2 performance will carry momentum into a decisive Game 3 on the road?
