Raven Johnson and Caitlin Clark were formerly on opposing ends of a highly publicised rivalry in collegiate basketball. The chemistry between them is completely different now that they share a locker room, as Johnson has made very apparent.
Johnson shared a candid and loving insight into her Fever teammates' off-court personalities in an IndyStar interview.
"I think when you have a player like Aliyah, she puts you right and gets everyone back on the same page," Johnson said. Then there are Caitlin, Lexie, and Kelsey. I was calling Kelsey the GOAT yesterday because they said she did something with Candace Parker. I was like, bro, you're the GOAT."
Kelsey Mitchell was rightfully lauded for it. Mitchell led the Fever with 25 points and joined Candace Parker in reaching 5,000 career points on June 4, 2026, in an 83-71 victory against the Atlanta Dream.
Next, Johnson spoke to Clark, the teammate about whom most were curious, and she made some really astute remarks.
"Caitlin is so funny. I think people need to get to know her off the court; she's literally like me: a ball of energy. She's always having fun, always smiling, always making jokes. And Sophie, that's my girl. I love dancing with Sophie and doing everything with her."
The comforting feeling becomes apparent as you recall its origin. Johnson later said that the now-viral event in which Clark infamously ignored her in the 2023 NCAA Final Four had a devastating effect on her self-esteem, leading her to consider quitting basketball entirely.
Johnson has more than just one colleague who thinks highly of Clark. Separate from her tale is her bond with Aliyah Boston.
Raven Johnson on Aliyah Boston Being Her Anchor at Indiana Fever
Not only does Johnson not define herself in the WNBA with each game, but so do many of her teammates. Aliyah Boston has been steadfast as she has dealt with the first difficulties of her rookie season.
Johnson spoke about her Boston love in an interview with the IndyStar: "Aliyah Boston, I play with her in college. She's like the mother figure or like the vet that has always been in my circle or that always gets me right. When you have a person like Aliyah, she gets you right, and she gets you back on the page of where you should be."
Both Johnson and Boston were key contributors to the 2022–23 South Carolina Gamecocks' 36–1 record and Final Four run under coach Dawn Staley.
Boston averaged 22.8 points and rebounds per game, and Johnson led the offence with 3.4 assists per game.
