Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) reacts during the second half of an WNBA basketball game against the Seattle Storm, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Caitlin Clark Stats Breakdown: How Did the Fever Star Perform vs. Fire

Even the dominant WNBA scorers have nights they want to forget, and Caitlin Clark just experienced that. She finished the road game against the Portland Fire on Saturday with a stat line that looked uncharacteristic for a player of her caliber.

Clark posted only six points, six assists, and conceded one turnover while shooting 1-for-7 from the floor. She also went 0-for-2 from three-point range during her 21 minutes on the court. The Indiana Fever lost 100-84 to the Fire at Moda on May 30.

Caitlin Clark made just one field goal the entire night, which was a two-pointer. Her remaining points came from the free-throw line, where she scored four of five. This marked her season low in both points and field goals made. It was strange for a player who usually averages well over 20 points per game.

This was the seventh time in her professional career that she scored under 10 points. It was also her lowest-scoring game since June 24, 2025, when she put up six points against the Seattle Storm.

Even with the scoring dip, she had six assists, but that total fell below her overall season average of eight to nine per game. The issue was that Indiana's offense never found a consistent rhythm. The team struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game.

Portland controlled the paint, led by Megan Gustafson, who delivered a 22-point performance. A point to note is that the Fever beat this same Portland team 90-73 on May 20 without Clark. This shows how much the Fire adjusted their defensive approach.

After the game, Clark shared her thoughts, saying, "It's hard when you foul, and you know, I just need to do a better job being straight up, keep the defender in front of me ... just move my feet a little bit better, and yeah, definitely some tough ones. But it's just basketball, just a game, you know? Learn from it, watch the film, and come back next game and be ready to go."

The Fever must now figure out how to counter the physical play that is stalling their offense.

Offensive Struggles Highlight Team Challenges

This was the second straight difficult offensive showing for Caitlin Clark. Just two days prior, the Fever suffered a 90-88 road loss to the Golden State Valkyries. Clark finished that game with 16 points, 6 assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

However, she shot just 3-for-12 from the field and committed 5 turnovers. Late-game mistakes, including a missed three-pointer that could have tied the game, took away a three-game win streak for Indiana.

Indiana depends on Clark for spacing and playmaking, so her recent struggles impact everyone on the court. The consecutive losses have dropped the Fever to a 4-4 record on the season. However, before these two games, she was averaging over 23 points and nine assists.

Indiana returns home for a crucial stretch starting with the Atlanta Dream on Thursday, June 4. They will then host the New York Liberty on June 6 and the Washington Mystics on June 8.

What specific tactical changes do you want to see the coaching staff implement next to beat such physical traps?
