Caitlin Clark Reveals What's Special About Her Relationship With Mother Anne

Superstardom means a spotlight that will never turn off. Most need at least one person who will make the light stay away from their home. For Caitlin Clark, her mother is this person.

"Probably my mom, somebody I talk to every single day," Clark said during her post-game press conference at the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game. "We don't talk about basketball literally at all. That's like a really nice escape for me to just talk about life."

Clark has defined her boundaries. In a Mother’s Day post from the Indiana Fever, Clark admitted to not discussing basketball with Anne at all.

Anne is the head of strategic partnerships at CC22 Ventures LLC, and her involvement led to the Gatorade and Nike contracts for Clark. So, it’s really surprising that Clark has kept this boundary and not discussed basketball with Anne, given how involved Anne is with Clark’s life off the court.

Clark continued in that same press conference, adding a second layer to why her family matters so much to her right now.

"Anytime they get to see me compete, have fun and enjoy what I'm doing, that brings them a lot of joy too," she said. "I really enjoy sharing that with the people in my life that really care."

That sentiment traces back further than her professional career. Anne still keeps a goals list Clark wrote in second grade naming the WNBA as her dream, and now serves as Founding Director of the Caitlin Clark Foundation, a family-run nonprofit built around education, nutrition and sports that turns Clark's success into something the two built together.

As the post-game questions drifted away from family to deal with something a lot more complex, Clark showed that same grounded instinct.

Caitlin Clark Addresses Questions On WNBA Leadership

In Saturday’s All-Star Game, Clark’s Team Spoon beat Team Coop with a score of 129-122. Clark scored 17 points, recorded 5 assists, 4 rebounds, a steal, and hit 5 three-pointers.

Once the game ended, the conversation shifted toward the league's leadership situation.

"Yeah, I think I communicate mostly with probably like Nneka (Ogwumike) and player leadership more than anything, and I try to do the best I can," Clark said. "I always want to be respectful of everybody and treat everybody with kindness."

"Me and Adam (Silver) have a great relationship. I know he was here tonight supporting us," she continued. "Communication and relationships solve a lot of issues and a lot of problems. Cathy (Engelbert) has also brought a lot to this league and helped us reach new milestones."

Her comments came after an ESPN report suggested Engelbert may be entering the final year of her term, with scrutiny building over unaddressed player safety concerns, referee inconsistency and fallout from Clark's own recent run-ins, including the Alyssa Thomas incident and a string of technical foul calls.

Do you think better communication between players and league leadership can fix the WNBA's current issues? Comment down and let us know.
