Caitlin Clark is one of the league's top scorers, with 22.1 PPG this season. However, for Clark, legacy is more than just about how much you can score and how often.
Iconic players like Michael Jordan or Candace Parker weren't only famous for their sheer brilliance on the court. They were big names because of the many lives they touched. Clark understands this well.
“A lot of my favorite players growing up, I don’t know how many points they ever ended up scoring, or I don’t know how many three-pointers they made." She told WNBA journalist Savanna Hamilton.
Caitlin Clark further explained that overall, what means most to her is impact.

"Hopefully, it’s just the impact that you can leave on people and the way you made them feel. And I think that’s kind of been the story of my career," she further added, speaking to Savanna Hamilton, as mentioned in an August 19, 2026 X post.
Clark hopes that once she's done playing, the one thing people remember her for would be the way she united the masses to cheer for the sport. For her, legacy means bringing people together.
She revealed that many people have come up to her before saying that they'd "never watched" women’s basketball before.
To her, it's special to bring people into a sport she'd loved all her life. Therefore, she doesn't take offence at newcomers who hadn't given the WNBA a chance before.
And that's what she wants to remember when she looks back one day. Her legacy would be the many people she brings into the sport that she has given her life to.
This statement from her comes at the perfect time after fans witnessed Caitlin Clark give a young fan a special gesture worth remembering.
Caitlin Clark's warm gesture to young fan goes viral
At the Indiana Fever vs Toronto Tempo match on August 18, 2026, Clark had a special fan encounter. A young fan brought many flowers for the player and gifted them to her right before the match started.
In response, Clark enthusiastically asked to sign her jersey. Later, she clicked a picture with the young fan, who was there to cheer for the Indiana Fever guard, as seen in this video posted by the official @IndianaFever X page.
This was also Clark's very first match in Canada. Her performance was brilliant as usual, scoring 24 points during the match, seven assists, and 3 rebounds.
The Fever ended up winning the match with a 101-95 score.
