Caitlin Clark Reveals She Vomited at Halftime Before Strong Second-Half Performance

Caitlin Clark was not in the injury report ahead of the game between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream, but it seemed like she was dealing with an illness throughout the game, as she had to head back to the locker room to throw up.

This incident occurred just before the start of halftime, as per USA Today's Megan L. Hall. Speaking to reporters after the Fever’s win, Caitlin Clark was asked if she was indeed throwing up at halftime.

Clark confirmed the rumors, and thankfully, it was not connected to her ongoing back issues. The incident occurred after she consumed a bad batch of applesauce.

“I tried to eat some apple sauce and then it just came up, and then everything else also in my stomach came up,” Clark said postgame. “I found a trash can, thank God, I haven’t puked that much in really, a long time. … I’ll be good.”

“I had to throw up … but you just keep playing,” Clark added. “I love this game and I’m competitive and I was going to do anything I could to help this team win, and I thought we played a really, really good game and we probably could have even made a few more baskets, but we guarded.”

Clark certainly did not show any signs of illness on the hardwood, as she finished the game with 17 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Interestingly, puking the bad batch of applesauce at halftime worked out for the better, as the 24-year-old revealed feeling "light" after. Clark's performance in the second half showed that, as she tallied 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Regardless, with a win against Angel Reese and the Dream in the first game of the Commissioner's Cup, Clark hopes to get back-to-back titles this year.

Caitlin Clark Wants Fever to Get Back on Track with Commissioner's Cup Win

Heading into the season, the Indiana Fever were favorites to stay atop the table and be one of, if not the first team, to qualify for the playoffs after re-signing Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston on max contracts and Caitlin Clark returning from injury.

However, the Fever currently find themselves with a record of 5-4, and Clark believes that defending their Commissioner's Cup crown would give them the perfect momentum for the rest of the season.

“I think for us, go out there and defend our title. We were the Commissioner’s Cup champions last year. We should have some pride in that.” Clark said ahead of the game against the Atlanta Dream, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.

The Fever won the Commissioner's Cup, an in-season tournament inaugurated last year, by defeating the Minnesota Lynx in the final, even without CC22, who had an injury.

The Fever continue their Commissioner’s Cup campaign on Saturday against the New York Liberty at the Barclays Center.

Clark must avoid applesauce at all costs to stay fully fit against a tough side that is also trying to gain momentum in the tournament.

So, do you think the Indiana Fever can go back-to-back in the Commissioner's Cup? Let us know in the comments.
