Caitlin Clark Might Further Her WNBA Legacy With Possible MVP Win in 2026

The WNBA regular season has entered its final five weeks, and Caitlin Clark has quickly become a serious MVP candidate. After a strong second half of the season, the Indiana Fever star has moved up to No. 3 on The Sporting News’ latest MVP ladder.

Clark’s recent form could become even more important if Indiana finishes as a top-three seed. The Fever have won nine of their last 11 games with Clark playing, while she has averaged 26.3 points, 9.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds during that stretch.

She has also shot 50% from the field, 41% from three-point range, and 87% from the free-throw line.

Caitlin Clark is averaging 22.0 points and 8.3 assists this season. She is the only WNBA player ranked in the top three in both scoring and assists. She has also improved her mid-range shooting, which poses another challenge for defenders.

During this recent run, Indiana has posted a 117.1 offensive rating. If the Fever keep that pace for the rest of the season, it would be a new WNBA record, according to The Sporting News’ Jeremy Beren.

The Fever are also on track to win a franchise-record 29 games. That gives Clark’s MVP case even more strength beyond her personal numbers.

If Indiana finishes with a top-three seed, Clark’s role in the team’s turnaround could become an important part of the MVP discussion.

A'ja Wilson and Olivia Miles Still Stand in Clark’s Way

Caitlin Clark still has a tough road ahead. The Sporting News’ MVP ladder ranks rookie Olivia Miles at No. 2 and A’ja Wilson at No. 1, as per the same Sporting News article. Miles is averaging 19.9 points and 6.1 assists while shooting 50% from the field, 40% from three and 88% from the free-throw line.

Minnesota’s 29-7 record has also strengthened her MVP case. The Lynx are on track to finish with the best record in the league, giving Miles a strong team-success argument.

Wilson, meanwhile, leads the league with 26.1 points per game. She also makes a big impact on both offense and defense. The Aces are just 4-6 when Wilson scores fewer than 20 points, showing how important she is to the team.

The report says Wilson is still the MVP favorite, but Miles is getting closer. For Clark, the final weeks could be very important.

If she keeps playing at a high level and helps Indiana earn a top-three seed, she could build enough momentum to win the MVP award and add another big achievement to her WNBA career.
