Fans are watching the injury reports to see if Caitlin Clark can return to her regular role on the court. The July 12 game in Las Vegas is a major test for Indiana's long-term plans.
Head coach Stephanie White confirmed that the star guard is available for the game. However, she will not be playing her usual minutes, as the team has placed her on a strict 20-25 minute playing time restriction.
This decision comes as the team manages a back injury that has bothered her throughout the summer. The restriction is a middle-ground approach to keep her safe while letting her help the team. On a positive note, Clark practiced fully on the afternoon of July 11 in Las Vegas.

The specific details about this updated strategy were posted on X by @CClarkReport. The new strategy will let her play longer, so she can find a rhythm while still keeping her workload safe.
"Caitlin Clark will be available on a 20-25 minute restriction tomorrow vs the Aces, but will not be playing in 3-minute intervals like last game per Coach White."
Coach White stated that Clark will not play in short three-minute intervals as she did in her previous game. Clark later admitted that the constant breaking up of her playing time made it hard to get into a flow on the court.
Clark first missed a game on May 20 against the Portland Fire because of back stiffness. The issue became worse on June 24 during a game against the Phoenix Mercury when she had to leave in the 3rd quarter with about 5 minutes remaining.
The Fever managed to pull off an 84-68 upset win against the Aces on July 5, a game where both Clark and Las Vegas star A'ja Wilson did not play.
The decision to restrict her time proves that the front office doesn’t want to take any risk with their star guard.
Why is Indiana being so careful with Clark
When Clark did take the court for her brief return on July 8 against the Sparks, the rust from her absence was visible. She played a total of 16 minutes in that game and finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
She struggled with her efficiency, shooting 4-of-12 from the field and just 1-of-6 from the three-point line while committing 4 turnovers. The Fever lost 106-92.
Clark has missed 4 games total this season due to her back injury and rest requirements. Indiana went 4-0 in the games she missed this year.
Clark remains the centerpiece of the Indiana offense. According to stats provided by ESPN, she is averaging 20.5 points, 7.9 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game through her first 18 appearances this season.
The Fever currently holds a 13-9 record and is in a good position to secure a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The franchise is being extra careful right now because they want to avoid a repeat of her 2025 season.
Last year, Clark missed almost the entire season after suffering a series of lower-body injuries.
