It was practice day on Wednesday, June 10, after a stellar performance from Caitlin Clark on Monday, June 8, when the Indiana Fever grabbed a 78-76 win over the Washington Mystics. A day later, Indiana had a guest visiting them: Kid Cudi, whom Clark also gave a special gift to.
Cudi arrived at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to surprise the Fever players, spending time with them dancing and playing games. Of course, no visit was complete without some signed memorabilia. Cudi left with a signed team jersey, which he later wore during his visit. The highlight of the visit was Clark personally autographing her No. 22 jersey for the rapper.
"There you go, you're the G.O.A.T.," Clark said while signing the jersey she gave away to Cudi. "Thanks for coming; appreciate it."
To capture the precious moment forever in his memory, Cudi posed for a picture with Clark holding the signed jersey. He later posted it on his Instagram with a caption that reflected his emotions.
"Crazzzzyyyyy. MAD LOVE to the entire @indianafever team and staff for being so awesome and letting me come by today!!!" Cudi wrote. "This was a big deal for me, as Ive been wanting to meet the ladies for awhile now, so as soon as I was in town, I had to make it happen. FEVER LETS GET IT!!! Haha lil inside joke w me and the team."
This season has seen multiple celebrity visits at Fever practices, with Cudi becoming the second musician to join the team. Blake Shelton had earlier surprised the squad in April.
While the two-time All-Star enjoyed Cudi’s company, the Fever were in the midst of practice for their upcoming game.
Can Caitlin Clark And The Fever Overcome Defensive Adversities
Even though the team currently holds a 6-5 record, the previous game against the Mystics showed their fighting spirit. Clark had the best moment, scoring a 31-foot three-pointer with just 1.2 seconds left, helping the team get back to winning ways.
While Clark has been tremendous, averaging 18.7 points, 7.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game, the Fever have been defensively off for the most part.
They average 88.2 points offensively, but their defense has allowed 85.6 points per game, ranking 11th in the WNBA.
Indiana struggled to keep opponents off the free-throw line, allowing 20.7 free throws per game. Furthermore, they have also allowed a staggering 41.3 points per game in the paint, ranking 12th in this category.
They are playing the Chicago Sky next on June 11, who themselves are in turmoil, having a 4-8 record and being on a two-game losing streak as well.
The Fever might have a chance to redeem themselves and continue on the winning track if they can overcome their defensive flaws.
