Kelsey Mitchell reached a major milestone in Indiana Fever history, moving into second place on the franchise's all-time assists list with 911.

But the celebration quickly shifted toward Caitlin Clark, with some Fever fans using Clark's rapid rise to debate Mitchell's place in the record books.

According to StatMuse, Mitchell reached this mark in 317 games. She has averaged 30.9 minutes, 18.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.5 three-pointers per game.

Only Tamika Catchings has more assists than Mitchell in Fever history. Catchings finished her career with Indiana with 1,488 assists in 457 games.

After the Indiana Fever shared the post on X, the milestone also brought Caitlin Clark into the discussion.

Clark's own numbers make the case without much help. She's sitting just 157 assists behind Mitchell, and she got there in only 89 games, which is exactly why fans keep bringing up how fast she's climbing the franchise's all-time list.

Several fans praised Mitchell, but they also pointed out how quickly Clark has reached her assist numbers, in the same Indiana Fever X post.

One fan said Clark’s assist total makes Mitchell’s nine-year journey look less impressive.

“CC22 has 754 assists in less than 3 years. Stop pretending that 911 assists in 9 years is a big deal,” the fan wrote. 

One fan praised Mitchell's shooting but argued that Clark's passing ability would allow her to reach the mark much faster.

“Nice accomplishment Kelz, but CC22 will do it in way less time. She’s an assist machine. Kelz is a dribble machine, but boy can she shoot,” a fan wrote. 

The criticism became sharper in another reaction.

“Anyone that can spell basketball knows what you’re doing. She never passes the ball and gets to score now because the other team has the entire team guarding CC,” a fan wrote. 

Not every fan compared Mitchell directly with Clark. One supporter looked at the Fever’s future, supporting Clark and Kelsey.

“I like Kelsey, I think she is a good player and really benefits from having a great point guard. I hope this team stays together as long as they can and ignore the stupid c*** on the internet,” the fan said. 

The strongest reaction made a direct comparison between Mitchell and Clark. The fan also said Clark’s arrival has helped Mitchell and the Fever.

“Kelsey, sit down it took you 9 years. CC in basically 2 years is right behind you could pass you by the end of season, but definitely next year. Kelsey, you won nothing without CC,” a fan wrote. 

Mitchell's 911 assists remain a significant milestone for the Fever, but Clark's remarkable pace has made it difficult for fans not to look ahead.

With only 157 assists separating them, the debate over where each player ranks in franchise history is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
