Indiana Fever All-Star and point guard Caitlin Clark entered Thursday’s regular season finale with an average of 22.8 points per game, putting her third in the league in scoring, but left the court with her worst-ever statistical performance in three years of playing in the WNBA.
Clark was just 1-for-12 shooting in the game, did not hit any of her seven three-point shots, finishing with a career-low two points and three assists in 18 minutes of action, as Indiana lost 88-66 to the Minnesota Lynx to end their regular season.

This was not simply a case of a player having an off-night to shoot. The Indiana Fever were just 34 percent as a team and 16 percent from behind the arc collectively.
In a post-game conversation with ESPN's Kareem Copeland, Clark remarked, "I feel like at this point, everybody's record is 0-0. We're going into the playoffs. If we sit and sulk about what happened tonight, yeah, it's s*. It is what it is."
Indiana faces serious consequences because of her mention of the record resetting.
The Fever fell from the No. 5 seed to No. 6 after losing on Thursday and seeing the Washington Mystics beat the Chicago Sky, resulting in a first-round clash with the defending champion Las Vegas Aces instead of the Atlanta Dream.
However, the repercussions of that evening weren’t confined to either the scoreboard or the standings.
Aliyah Boston and Tyasha Harris Exit With Injuries
Aliyah Boston, an All-Star center for the Fever, was forced out of the game in the second quarter because of a collision with teammate Myisha Hines-Allen, adding more concern to the team three days before their playoff game.
Boston played for 13 minutes before she came out, having scored four points and grabbed three rebounds. When Fever coach Stephanie White spoke to the press about it afterwards, she said it was just a flare-up.
Clark spoke about the increasing setbacks during her postgame remarks.
"I think for us is like you've got to do it for the people around you. You got to buy in, and I'm excited. If you can't get up for the playoffs, then you probably shouldn't be on this team," Clark said.
Tyasha Harris, reserve guard for the Fever, is now the second Fever player to be sidelined from the game after suffering an injury to her left ankle in the third quarter, when she collided with Minnesota’s Nia Brodie, scoring 4 points with 2 assists in 11 minutes on the floor.
Both injuries present some concern for Indiana as it approaches a match-up against Las Vegas, which has gone unbeaten in its last seven games coming into the postseason and is led by MVP candidate A’ja Wilson.
