Caitlin Clark drops 7-word message for Jaguars' recent win vs. Eagles

A quick post about one of the more surprising NFL results of the week has Caitlin Clark trending outside the basketball world once again.

Caitlin Clark took a brief break from basketball talk to react to one of the more surprising results of NFL Week 5. After the Jacksonville Jaguars edged the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 on a last-second 57-yard field goal in London, the Indiana Fever star posted a simple message on X.

"What an insane win for the Jags."

Clark's reaction on her X post captured the drama of the finish, in which Jacksonville erased a late deficit and won on Cam Little's long kick. The Jaguars improved to 4-1 with the victory, while the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles dropped to 2-3.

Clark isn't a longtime or primary Jacksonville supporter. She has repeatedly identified as a Kansas City Chiefs fan, citing family ties in the Kansas City area and growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, roughly three hours from Arrowhead Stadium.

Her Jaguars comment appears to be a spontaneous reaction to an exciting game rather than evidence of a new allegiance. Still, Jaguars supporters welcomed the shout-out.

The Fever's season ended in the first round of the playoffs against the Las Vegas Aces, giving Clark time to follow other sports. As one of the most visible athletes in the country, her casual engagement with the NFL often generates outsized attention, and this short message was no exception.

What Clark is doing after the playoff exit

With the Fever eliminated, Clark has shifted her focus to the offseason and long-term team building. In her exit interview as posted by Indiana Fever on their YouTube channel, she emphasized leadership growth and stronger relationships with younger teammates.

She specifically mentioned wanting to work out with players such as Raven Johnson and Makayla Timpson during the coming months to build chemistry outside the regular season.

Clark also stressed the importance of retaining unrestricted free agent Kelsey Mitchell, describing her as essential to both the backcourt and the locker room. On the contract front, she is eligible for an EPIC extension under the new collective bargaining agreement but hasn't committed to signing it yet.

She has made clear she intends to remain with Indiana regardless, saying her priority is constructing a roster capable of contending for championships.

In the short term, Clark has already returned to golf after limiting it during the season and made a high-profile appearance as a guest picker on ESPN's College GameDay in Iowa City. Between the football reactions, the offseason planning, and the downtime, she is balancing rest with preparation for what comes next.

Do you think Clark's casual NFL shout-outs help bring new fans to the WNBA, or are they just a fun side note to her offseason?
