It’s time for A’ja Wilson to grow up, according to Fever star Sophie Cunningham. The Fever guard found nothing wrong with the fan’s action. However, WNBA fans did not hesitate to criticize her stance.
Massive chaos broke out in Game 2 of the Fever-Aces Round 1 series. Sitting beside the baseline, the fan pointed at Wilson after a blocking foul. The Aces star found it unacceptable and rushed towards him. Cunningham lashed out at Wilson instead.
"Like, grow up. What are we doing? We ask all these things, and then once people come out and support us, we get mad,” Cunningham said. “But she's like the LeBron James of our league, and of course they're not going to suspend her.”

On her "No Hesitation" podcast, Cunningham pointed out that to attain equality in women's sports, passionate fan reactions and hostile atmospheres need to be accepted.
However, WNBA fans did not side with Cunningham’s reasoning. They criticized her brutally.
Fans react to Cunningham’s comments on A’ja Wilson
Although a few fans sided with Cunningham’s comments, the majority lashed out at the Fever guard.
“Sophie is a bench warming loser,” a fan wrote on podcaster Jaime Lardis' X post.
Cunningham’s output in the games was questioned by fans. Not being an outright starter, fans felt the Fever guard should focus on her own game instead.
“SOPHIE DOES NOTHING IN GAMES SHE NEEDS TO GROW,” wrote a fan.
Another fan pointed out that the playoff series is in the past now. The Aces have advanced, and Cunningham and co. have been defeated. The situation should be put to bed.
“I'm with her also but it's Time to stfu. U lost. Aja wins. That's all that matters in the end or at least it should,” the fan wrote.
Fans questioned Cunningham’s credibility in criticizing the four-time WNBA MVP. On the other hand, the Fever guard is a role player who averaged 7.9 points this season.
“Sophie Cunningham averaged 8 points per game. She is a role player. She should STFU about a 4X MVP and future first ballot Hall of Famer,” a fan wrote.
Another fan switched the “grow up” message towards Cunningham.
“....but here she is NOT taking a loss like everybody else. Stfu and GROW UP” the fan commented.
As the Fever evened the series in Game 2, much of the limelight went towards Wilson’s fan encounter. Cunningham's words keep the controversy alive.
