Azzi Fudd's Father Shares Exciting New Plan After Daughter Bags WNBA 3-Point Win

There is a new three-point champion in town, and being the coach that her father Tim Fudd is, he has some exciting plans for the development of the shot from beyond the arc.

First things first, Tim congratulated Azzi for her historic night, where she recorded 30 points in the final round of the WNBA All-Star weekend, ousting Portland Fire forward Bridgeton Carleton.

Tim is obviously a proud father, and with his decades of experience coaching at the grassroots, high school, and collegiate levels, he plans to launch the Azzi Fudd Shooting Academy.

"Congrats to@Azzi_35 on being the WNBA 3-Point Champ. The Azzi Fudd Shooting Academy will launch soon. We will teach the same shooting methods, drills, and player development that helped shape her into the 3pt champ and the #1 draft pick. Great shooters aren't born, they're made." Tim wrote on X.

Fans on social media were also genuinely happy for the coach and sent him some lovely messages to motivate the cause further.

Apart from being the first rookie to win the three-point contest, Fudd was also the first player from UConn to receive this award, which is surprising considering the program's lineage. Regardless, Geno Auriemma would be a proud head coach.

“It was shock. That’s crazy,” Fudd said. “To be the first is definitely an honor.”

Moreover, Fudd's 30 points in the final round are also the most a rookie has ever scored in a single round of the contest. She beats the previous record held by Rhyne Howard, who put up 24 in the opening round in 2022.

Following her victory, Fudd also credited the coaching staff and the interns who helped her figure out how to work through the format in only a couple of practice sessions due to limited time.

As the No. 1 overall draft pick and now the three-point contest winner, Fudd was feeling pretty confident in herself. So much so that she even wanted to have a go against the Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry.

Azzi Fudd Calls Out the Greatest Three-Point Shooter in History

Fudd and Curry have met each other at an event like this before. The duo first shot against each other at Curry's SC30 camp in 2018.

Fudd was just a 15-year-old high school student back then. She has since gone on to become the first sophomore named Gatorade National Player of the Year, won a national championship at UConn in 2025, and was selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Wings in April.

With Fudd breaking the rookie three-point record, she said she’d welcome the opportunity to go head-to-head against the Warriors legend, who is probably the greatest three-point shooter of all time.

“Steph, if you’re listening, I’ve been trying to get a rematch since high school,” the former UConn Huskies star said during her media availability. "So maybe this is our time to figure out a time and a place.”

But Fudd did not win the contest by luck, as she has shown her shooting prowess from beyond the arc since her college days at UConn. So yes, it will be interesting to see Curry and Fudd go at it once again, with their careers on different ends of the spectrum.

So, do you think Azzi Fudd can topple even the greatest in Steph Curry? Let us know in the comments.
