Atlanta Dream Star Risks Fine to Rip 'Awful' Officiating After Saying 'I Don't Care'

After the Atlanta Dream lost their fourth consecutive game, Jordin Canada did not hold back her feelings towards the WNBA's officiating in their 81-76 loss to the Washington Mystics.

During the postgame press conference, Canada and Rhyne Howard expressed their disgust towards the refereeing.

While Howard tried to be discreet about it, Canada did not really care and straight up knocked on the door to express her issues, specifically taking the example of Angel Reese.

“I'm going to get fined for this but I don't care. Tonight, the officiating tonight was terrible, horrible. I don't know how many times Angel has to get beat up in the paint to get a foul called. I thought all 3 refs were terrible,” Canada said, per Courtside Cousins' Hayley Moore.

WNBA's officiating was getting blasted left, right, and center throughout last season. This year, with the new CBA, little has changed for Angel Reese.

Reese was battling in the paint against rookie Lauren Betts, whose hand swept over Reese as she tried to box the Dream star. But somehow it was Reese that got penalized despite Betts making contact first.

This controversial call triggered the whole of the Dream bench, and head coach Karl Smesko also had some words to say about the officiating following the game.

“The officiating is horrendous. Some of the things I see out there are just borderline bizarre, like some of the overturned calls or some of the calls they make,” Smesko said.

Regardless, the Dream also has themselves to blame for the loss, as they went only 36% from the field, including 7-of-31 from long range. Reese scored 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals.

However, officiating is not the only one to have snubbed Reese, who was surprisingly not included in this year's All-Star starters.

Angel Reese Opens Up on Her All-Star Snub

On Thursday, the WNBA announced the 10 starters for the 2026 All-Star Game in Chicago. The fans, media, and players voted for four guards and six frontcourt players.

While the usual suspects like A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and Aliyah Boston were present, Reese was not on the list alongside Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard.

Before the defeat against the Mystics, Reese was asked about her feelings towards her snub. While she was obviously not happy about it, she felt even more offended with Gray and Howard not being selected.

“I expect to be disrespected,” Reese said, via ESPN’s Kareem Copeland.

“For those two though, I think they work so hard and they put a lot of work in, and the way that they’re guarded every game and they (have to) adjust. The reason why we’re where we are is because of those two."

Gray and Howard have been commanding the Dream's court even before Reese came along and are having solid individual seasons themselves.

“For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face, but they’re not going to say anything. I am.” Reese added.

But the Dream trio's focus should now go back to winning a few games. Four consecutive losses are not a good look by any means, and they will hope to get a result against the Golden State Valkyries on Saturday.

So, who do you think Angel Reese should have replaced in the 2026 All-Star starters? Let us know in the comments.
