Aryna Sabalenka Shared Her Candid Take on Naomi Osaka's Viral Wimbledon Dress

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has weighed in on Naomi Osaka’s much-talked-about Wimbledon outfit. For her opening-round match on June 29, Osaka stunned the crowd in a full white flowing kimono with a ruffled skirt, an ensemble that quickly went viral across social media.

When asked about it at the Wimbledon press conference on July 3, Sabalenka didn’t hold back her admiration. “That’s amazing,” Sabalenka said in the press conference as shared by The Tennis Letter on X.

“Every time she’s willing to bring something new and different. It’s cool to see. I actually really love her on-court dress. I’d say, in my personal opinion, it’s one of her best outfits in the last couple of Grand Slams. I love it. It’s cool.”

Sabalenka described Osaka’s kimono look as her personal favorite among recent Grand Slam appearances. And Osaka has certainly made headlines with her fashion choices this season.

At the 2026 Australian Open, she wore a sea‑green jellyfish-inspired outfit paired with a white hat and a parasol decorated with butterflies.

At Roland Garros, she dazzled in a gold sequin dress she compared to the “Eiffel Tower at night when it’s sparkly.”

Sabalenka described Osaka's latest Grand Slam outfit as her personal favorite during the press conference.

Osaka’s bold style has cemented her reputation as tennis' fashion queen, and Sabalenka clearly appreciates her flair. But now, the two champions are set to clash once again on the court.

While Sabalenka advanced past Jeļena Ostapenko 6‑4, 6‑4, Osaka defeated Australian Daria Kasatkina 6‑1, 6‑3 to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time, according to the WTA.

Both players enter the showdown as four‑time Grand Slam winners, having each lifted the Australian Open and US Open trophies twice.

Sabalenka has reached the Wimbledon semifinals three times in 2021, 2023, and 2025- but has yet to break through to the final. Osaka, meanwhile, is making her deepest run at the All England Club.

The two have faced each other on four occasions, the Round of 16 of the 2018 US Open, where Osaka won 6-3, 2-6, 6-4; 2026 Indian Wells, where Sabalenka won 6-2, 6-4; and the Madrid Open, where Sabalenka took her second win 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-2.

Sabalenka also won their fourth and latest meeting at the 2026 French Open, where she defeated Osaka 7-5, 6-3.

Sabalenka had a few words to say about her and Osaka's rivalry ahead of their match at Wimbledon.

"I think every match was a very tough one," she said in the same press conference.

"In every match there was, like, few key moments of each set where I think I was able to trust my game and to step in and to put pressure on her. I feel like every time she plays me, she's more focused. She's aware of my power, aggression, and everything. I feel like every time she's handling herself really good and handling the pressure good."

Sabalenka and Osaka will face each other for the fifth time in their career, on July 5. It is expected to be another action-packed tennis match like their previous matches.
