Angel Reese’s ‘Barbie’ collab shows just how powerful her brand has become

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has already built a name for herself as one of the WNBA’s biggest stars. Now, a new collaboration with Barbie is showing that her influence extends well beyond the basketball court.

The Atlanta Dream star teamed up with Mattel and Reebok for a Barbie Signature doll and matching Angel Reese 1 basketball shoes. The collaboration arrived during WNBA All-Star Weekend and quickly turned into a major commercial moment for Reese.

Mattel's July 24 post revealed that the Barbie doll was created in Reese's likeness, wearing the same Barbie-inspired Reebok shoes. The Dream forward also worked with the company on a limited-edition apparel capsule.

The collaboration also highlights how Reese has become a crossover star. As per Mattel, her influence reaches sports, business, fashion, and culture while noting her work through the Angel C. Reese Foundation.

On August 15, the limited-edition Reebok Angel Reese 1 “Barbie” was already almost completely sold out on Reebok’s website.

That kind of demand is exactly what makes the partnership significant. Mattel did not simply put Reese’s name on another piece of merchandise.

For Reese, the Barbie partnership adds another major name to an already expanding portfolio. Her long-term relationship with Reebok has produced her first signature shoe.

Her business interests include ownership in women’s sports media company TOGETHXR. Mattel also pointed to her partnerships with brands including Reebok, Reese's, and Beats.

The response to the Barbie doll and sneakers suggests Reese’s commercial pull is no longer simply tied to her performances. Fans are buying into the basketball star's personality, style, and cultural identity.

Angel Reese’s other collaborations prove her brand goes beyond basketball

The Barbie partnership is only the latest addition to Angel Reese’s growing commercial portfolio. Her collaboration produced a fan-requested apparel collection.

Her partnership with REESE’S PUFFS expanded into a limited-edition cereal box and a KidSuper-designed Duffel Puff bag. She also became the first female athlete to receive her own McDonald’s signature meal, the Angel Reese Special, in 2025.

Together, these partnerships show how Reese has successfully carried her identity from basketball into food, fashion, and pop culture. Her appeal is no longer limited to what she does on the court.
