Allisha Gray is having the type of season that warrants recognition, and the ESPY Award voters have made sure of that. She has been nominated for Best WNBA Player at the 2026 ESPY Awards as part of a list of finalists. She received an almost instant reaction from her teammate Angel Reese.
Once the Atlanta Dream uploaded a video clip on June 25 to their Instagram, Reese reposted that video on her Instagram story, captioning it simply with "Go, Lish!" So deserving!
The original video was titled "We're not crying, you're crying. Congratulations, Lish, on your ESPY nomination!"

This reaction is justified considering what Gray has managed to accomplish this season. With an average of 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, with a 45.1 percent shooting percentage, she ranks among the most efficient guards in the league.
Gray has made it to the final four, which consists of A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Alyssa Thomas, who make up some of the best front-court players in the league. Wilson averages 25.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, Collier averages 22.9 points per game, and Thomas averages 8.4 assists.
In comparison to all the guards in the nomination list, Gray stands out with her statistics of scoring 19.5 points and 1.7 steals per game.
Within the Dream's lineup, the case becomes even stronger when combined with the contribution of Reese.
Currently, Reese is putting up a double-double by scoring 15.0 points and collecting 11.8 rebounds in 16 games, forming a strong inside-out combo that has been driving Atlanta towards the playoffs.
Reese has made waves this week, not just with her support for Gray. The WNBA is buzzing about her response to Marina Mabrey's record-breaking 53 points.
Angel Reese Reacts to Marina Mabrey's Historic 53-Point Night
Mabrey became part of the WNBA history books on Thursday when she recorded a remarkable 53-point game that ties her with A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage in holding the record for most points scored in a single game.
Nine three-point shots, a 17-for-28 shooting night marked the game, and a plus-36 in a 125-97 victory for Toronto.
To express her feelings about the situation, Reese took to X and posted a comment, which is also a joke based on a past conversation.
"Yeah, I guess Marina deserves a ride in the RR," she posted on X.
The background to the whole conversation helps make it more effective. Before that, Mabrey had made a comment on a TikTok post of Reese, who was showing her new Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
"Ok, yeah, I'm officially jealous, I want that car," wrote Mabrey in the comment.
Toronto drafted Mabrey, who is currently 29 years old, sixth overall in the 2026 expansion draft after playing for the Sparks, Wings, Sky, and Sun. Her stats this season are 19.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
The Tempo team currently has 9 wins and 9 losses and is fighting for a place in the playoffs this season, as it is their first year of operation.
