Amid Team USA’s 108-56 blowout quarterfinal victory over Hungary, an Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark sidelines moment took the spotlight.
“Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have connected for a few good plays against Hungary and are looking chummy on the bench,” Fox News journalist Jackson Thompson wrote in an X post on September 10, 2026.
The clip showed Clark, Reese and Paige Bueckers watching the play together from the sidelines. However, Clark and Reese seemed extra friendly, as the Indiana Fever guard and Atlanta Dream forward smiled at each other and kept talking.

Amid Clark’s 10 points, 9 assists and Reese’s 9 points, 6 rebounds, the “few good plays” were some of the passes these two kept making to each other, including a bounce pass from Clark. Besides Thompson's September 10 X post, another account also hyped it up.
“Angel Reese with another steal, and return of favor to CC,” posted the FIBAWWC official X handle. USA Basketball posted the bounce pass, captioning, “Certified Breakfast Combo.” Even the WNBA took to X: “On the MONEY, CC with the dime, Angel with the lay!”
In fact, Clark herself has talked about this camaraderie.
Caitlin Clark on Angel Reese amid FIBA run
Starting from their times in Iowa and LSU, respectively, Clark and Reese have kept the W hardwood warm with their on-court rivalry. Notably, a physical exchange between the two during a Fever vs. Dream matchup in mid-August.
But things are unfolding differently in Berlin, and Clark is enjoying it.
“We’re both fiery competitors, and we want to win,” Clark said of playing alongside Reese, per Athlon Sports' Rodney Knuppel. “It’s one of the things I really admire about her game … She has one of the best motors in the league … so it’s been fun to be able to play with her.”
Although Team USA HC Kara Lawson hasn’t given Clark and Reese the chance to do their thing throughout the whole game by having them come off the bench, the game against Hungary should be able to convince her.
All eyes would be on the USA’s semifinal rival and this duo’s next performance on September 12.
