A'ja Wilson Remains Prime Candidate to Bag Yet Another MVP Honor

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has already won the MVP award four times this decade, but that is not stopping her from going for another one, especially this season.

In a recent discussion between analysts Caroline Fenton and Cassandra Negley on Hoops 360, both picked Caitlin Clark to win the MVP award during their preseason picks.

Fenton reminded Negley that neither picked Wilson as their main candidate, only because it was the easy option and they wanted it to be someone different. Well, with how the season has turned out till now, Fenton has certainly changed her mind.

"If the season ended today, A'ja Wilson would be my MVP." Fenton said. "Yeah, absolutely," Negley replied. "A'ja Wilson is still doing A'ja Wilson things."

It seems like Wilson is more or less competing with the previous versions of herself after once again having a historically dominant season.

The three-time WNBA champion is averaging 25.5 points (1st), 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2 blocks (1st), and 1.5 steals per game

For her exemplary performances, she was honored with two awards at the ESPYs, held Wednesday night in New York.

Wilson won Best WNBA Player and Best Athlete - Women's Sports for her 2025 season, where she and the Aces rebounded after a slow start to dominate the second half of the season and claim her third WNBA Championship.

Wilson also became the first WNBA player to win four MVP awards and the first WNBA or NBA player to win the scoring title, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same season.

She overcame the likes of former South Carolina teammate Allisha Gray for the Best WNBA Player award. Other nominees included Napheesa Collier and Alyssa Thomas.

With increasingly likely chances of winning another MVP award, Wilson was naturally included in the All-Star Game as a starter.

A'ja Wilson Drafted First as Cooper and Weatherspoon Pick Their All-Star Teams

WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon are the honorary general managers for the All-Star Game on July 25 in Chicago.

Each drafted All-Star teams Wednesday from players that previously were either voted as starters by fans, media and fellow players or chosen as reserves by the league’s coaches.

And to nobody's surprise, Wilson was drafted first in the exhibition game by Weatherspoon while Cooper took Breanna Stewart as her first pick.

Previously, the top two fan vote-getters would serve as captains and draft their own teams.

That would have been Dallas’ Paige Bueckers and Indiana’s Caitlin Clark this year. Instead, they were each assigned to a team, with Bueckers headlining Cooper’s team and Clark atop Weatherspoon’s squad.

The Aces HC Becky Hammon will be in charge of Cooper's team, while Minnesota's Cheryl Reeve will take the mantle for Weatherspoon's troops.

The All-Star Game, while an exhibition, already has so many storylines going for itself that it will likely be the most-watched game of the season till now.

So, do you think A'ja Wilson can add another W to her legendary resume? Let us know in the comments.
