A'ja Wilson and the Indiana Fever brought the intensity in Tuesday's Game 2, but one fourth-quarter moment with a courtside fan pulled attention away from the scoreboard. Now, the Las Vegas Aces star has spoken about it.
The moment came late in the fourth quarter of the Las Vegas Aces' first-round playoff matchup with the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. After colliding with Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who was called for a foul, Wilson pointed to a fan under the baseline and walked toward him.
She was heard yelling in his direction until teammate Cheyenne Parker-Tyus began pulling her away, and Wilson was assessed a technical foul. During the post-game presser, A’ja Wilson addressed the situation.
"If I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don't give a damn what you said," Wilson said during the post-game interview as reported by Underdog WNBA on X. "I don't give a damn how you said it, the tone; that is unacceptable."

Wilson went on to explain why she felt the exchange crossed a line, making her stance on the situation unmistakably clear.
"You don't know me to step toward me and point at me. I'm not for that s*** at all … That is unacceptable. How he gets back in the game because they said he didn't do anything; of course he did."
According to reports from Fever reporter Tony East, the fan was briefly removed from his seat before being allowed back in. He was reportedly seen celebrating and high-fiving fans.
Wilson's technical foul and postgame comments added another storyline to an already intense first-round series, with the Aces and Fever set to meet again on October 1st.
Indiana Fever addresses A’ja Wilson fan incident
The Fever soon followed with an official response to Wilson's postgame comments. Here is what the team said about the incident, as reported by James Boyd on X.
"Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed."
However, the statement doesn't say what the fan's comment was, so Wilson's account remains the only detailed version of the exchange.
In effect, it is the Fever's answer to Wilson's question about how the fan stayed in the game: security found no violation. With the team calling the matter closed, the gap between the two sides is likely to linger as the series continues.
